Whistleblower support, our most important project, includes strategic counseling, emotional and professional support, and technical assistance to meritorious whistleblowers. Funded by the Whistleblower Support Fund, the project has served as a broad network to refer whistleblowers to attorneys around the country who can assist them; find professional and community support for whistleblowers; and work with journalists and the national media to publicize the issues raised by whistleblowers.
Through this project, Dr. Donald R. Soeken has assisted hundreds of whistleblowers. He has widely distributed, on an international level, copies of a whistleblower study and an audio tape cassette entitled, “Whistleblowing-The New Ethic.”
Dr. Soeken is a skilled and dedicated psychotherapist much sought after for television and public appearances as well as for interviews by the press; he has become known as one of the most important sources of assistance for whistleblowers, internationally.
Technical Assistance: The Whistleblower’s Support Fund supplies additional know-how, technically, to the courage and convictions of whistleblowers in pursuing the proper course of action within the system. Its resource network can help a whistleblower to protect himself against un-just retaliation, define and prioritize the most effective strategies and select an attorney, when and if necessary.
Emotional Support: Counseling by competent professionals helps the whistleblower alleviate stress, helps combat depression or other emotional trauma peculiar to the whistleblower experience, and provides additional strength and energy to go on with the struggle.
Family Assistance: Individual and group counseling to family members plus advice and support from those who have ‘been there’ assist the family to understanding their situation and distress.
Financial Aid: To the extent that it has monies available, the Fund makes direct cash grants and loans to cover various expenses.
Thank you for your help! Nice post with some well thought out points.
